The Stroker Serpentine freebie saga – Part 2. Don’t use the anims that aren’t his

07 Oct

Corsi Mousehold has confirmed that Stroker Serpentine did not have the rights to release her animations full perm in the SexGen Ultra Base v5 (FULL PERM) that he released a few weeks ago before claiming to have left Second Life. She has also claimed that Briggi Bard did not give permission to Stroker to release her animations full perm but the script set she created was intended to be open source.

The bottom line is that you can use the script set and Stroker’s animations but not the rest.  Although Briggi is yet to comment, you should assume that you cannot use her animations at all.  If Corsi is to be believed and she has lodged a DMCA along with Briggi that does mean that all three animators have put in a takedown notice now.  Combine that with the copies that are floating around with a box of copybotted content and it’s pretty obvious that its days are numbered.  Well, it would be anywhere apart from Second Life.

If you want to use Corsi’s animations, then contact her and arrange to buy a licence from her.  The sale of the animations goes to paying FurNation tier.

Here’s the original post from the official Second Life forum

I took the time and effort to contact one of the animators since it was important to me that a fledgling company like the one I represent was best getting off on a good footing, certainly Stroker’s work may be considered now abandoned but please take the time to read this response from Corsi Mousefold.

[14:50] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): Hello sorry to bring up what might be a sore point for you but it is my company’s belief that it is always best to get permission to use people’s animations, and you can probably guess where this is leading, may I have your permission to make use of your animations that can be found in the Sexgen engine or would you prefer I delete them from my inventory?
[14:55] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): It would be nice if you didn’t resell them.
[14:56] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): ah probably best for me to delete them then since we are looking to use them in our builds, or do you mean resell as they are?
[14:56] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): Resell at all. I support FurNation with them
[14:57] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand) nods with understanding “ok then, thank you for taking the time to answer my enquiry, is it the same thing with Briggi’s do you know?”
[14:59] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): UNfortunately yes.
[14:59] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): Sorry hon.
[14:59] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): The scripts we were going to Open source anyway and if Stroker wants to give out his animations … all the power to him.
[15:00] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): not to worry, clearly Stroker has done wrong here and I would like to make sure I at least do the right thing before I create any end products
[15:00] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): He’s facing three DMCA’s right now and the entire base unit could be wiped from the grid.
[15:01] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): 3 DMCAs?, Briggi, yourself, how many others has he ripped off by doing this?
[15:02] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): Craig Altman.
[15:02] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): Owner if Bits and Bobs.
[15:03] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): however rest assured, I shall not be using stolen animations, it would look bad for business, and could close the company I represent before its had chance to open
[15:04] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): May I share a copy of this IM with the rest of the company staff so they are aware which animations not to use?
[15:05] Corsi DeAllura (corsi.mousehold): Please yes.
[15:06] Lil’ Devil (lillith.firebrand): again thank you for taking the time to deal with my enquiry, it is much appreciated, as it is the hope of our company to start out on good footing ~smiles~

The best thing you can do is take Stroker’s animations and the scripts out of the item and delete those created by Briggi Bard, Corsi Mousehold and Craig Altman.  You can see the names of the non Stroker created animations and each creator here. If you do continue to use it then you should expect that it will be removed eventually.

Does this mean Prok has to give back the $400L that she scammed from noobs that didn’t know it was a freebie?

Strictly speaking she should but of course there’s more chance of me dancing on the head of a pin than that. Sadly, this little drama has shone an unflattering light on a fair few of our fellow inmates. It’s quite embarrassing really.

Try again Jumpman, you had nothing to do with this.

Innula Zenovka identified which animations belonged to others and that was how Craig Altman and the rest of us found out. So unless you had something to do with the distribution of the versions that that the box of ripped items, you’ve had no major part in this.

You were too busy baiting Stroker over his fantasy life and crowing about driving someone away.

Over the years that mulleted douche Stroker Serpentine hoodwinked the masses into believing he was a great content creator and champion of ip rights all the while bilking Briggi Bard and COrsi Mousehold out of the fruits of their labors in Second Life. In forums all across the grid saps are lamenting his passing and scooping up his full permission released Sex Gen sex base v5.01, the engine Bard scripted along with a bulk of animations created by Mousehold. A few, however are beginning to wonder if Serpentine had the right to release the sex base full perm after all.

    “Made by.. not owned by.

That pesky working for someone else and getting paid for it shit.. man it can bite you in the arse!”-Siggy Romulous, Second Life Criminal Rating: Forum Troll

“Doesn’t that rather depend on the original agreement between Stroker and the animator? It’s not uncommon, I think, to grant people a licence to use your work so long as they don’t distribute it copy/transfer.-Innula Zenovka, Second Life Criminal Rating: Content Creator

    http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/general-sl-discussion/65003-corsi-bawwwwwwwwww-death-sex-market-2.html

“Corsi is the name I keep forgetting. Was s/he ripped off like Briggi was? If so, there is *very* little in thing that Stroker created.
….”-Phil Deakins, Second Life Criminal Rating: Second Life Blogger

“That is a great point. I don’t have access to what exactly he said, so I can’t really make any further arguements on this. Personally, whether some1 gives you the right to resell something or not, giving it away as a freebie with full perm rights when you did not make every single part yourself, aside from open source scripts and stuff, is serously questionable.”-Medhue Simoni, Second Life Criminal Rating: Content Creator

“So is there any truth to the rumor that Stroker stole sex gen or not. I really am beginning to have big doubts about Stroker there is some damning things said and I wonder if there is some truth to it all.

Go for it Prok, sell his product, he let it go full perm he knew exactly what would happen, he did this to himself. I do not have any sympathy for him I do not mourn his leaving. There are always new and better people ready to replace him, no is indispensable at all despite their own delusions. It’s a dark day for stroker wallowing in his shame, i doubt his wife was happy when she realized her husband had fantasy about sex with daughters I am sure that has contributed to his decision to leave SL and to try and go with a bang, more of hiss if you ask me.,”

    - karla dorn,Second Life Criminal Rating: Noob

“when i was new in SL (2005), i distinctly remember the sexgen brand to be the property of one briggi bard, i believe? and i remember corsi was in her employ among others, at the time.

i was always a little confused when suddenly briggi seemed to be out of the picture and stroker was in charge. i never really delved into what went down, though.

stroker *has* always seemed a generally nice, generous and upstanding guy from my minimal interaction with him, though. “-kaori nakashima, Second Life Criminal Rating: PRE-Noob

“Yes, Jumpman is ranting with the same point in my spam barrel. And yeah, I vaguely remember something about this. But it’s only one side of the story.

Did Stroker buy this from them or commission them to do this as a work for hire? No, it seems it was a 50-50 split that stopped working after awhile. But if Stroker absorbed the cost of litigation — which he most certainly did — and advertising — which was huge — then if the knocked them off the 50-50 deal at some point, perhaps it’s no surprise?

Again, I don’t take Jumpman’s version of the story or Briggi or Stroker’s, I’d like to hear all side by side with evidence.

Oh, and there’s no kaori nakashima in the People List. Are you Jumpman’s alt when he isn’t talking like he has a stake through is head?”- Prokofy Neva, Second Life Criminal Rating: Freebie Reseller

Here’s a quick run down of the History of the Sex gen sex base for those who for got or arent in the know.

“1. stroker tries all manners of schemes to make a buck in sl. selling sunglasses and escorting on a female avi were his first ‘enterprises”
    2. he meets Briggi Bard who has created a sex engine (look in side any sex gen sex base and her work is still there. it is what makes a sex engine a sex engine. her scripts, her notecards
    3. stroker and briggi begin marketing sex bases
    4. corsi comes some time later initially in sales and begins animating
    5. corsi becomes a partner with stroker and briggi due the addition of a huge chunk of new animations. (still found in every sex base from stroker’s freebie sex gen 5.01 through corsi and briggi’s 5.04 and v6)
    6. Stroker gets sue happy, Briggi wants no part of it , Corsi has little voice in the matter as a junior parnter, they all continue to split profits
    7. to bolster his legal standing in future lawsuits,Stroker trademarks the name Sex gen describing it as and referring to Briggi’s creation in the application. and one day soon after stops splitting the profits
    8. Briggi and Corsi split off from the eros bunch selling sex gen sex beds under the sex gen name for a while BECAUSE they never liscenced their work to Stroker and he very well could not make them stop selling their OWN SCRIPTS, OWN NOTECARDS, OWN ANIMATIONS, THEIR OWN WORKS. he does however lay claim to the name since he trademarked it. he threatens to sue them if they dont call their sex base something else.
9.distraught briggi quits second life, corsi soldiers on further developing the sex gen sex base beyond v5.01 (stroker’s freebie) with versions 5.04 and 6 earning enough from such sales to pay for furnation tier.
    10. stroker continues to sell v5.01 to less and less profits and one day a Linden fiddles with a suspect script over the weekend borking every rezzed 5.01 sex bed in second life. stroker hides this fact not eager to even attempt the massive tech support necessary because he cannot because he didnt CREATE sex gen sex bases. a bimbo cheerleader mentions it in passing to me. i pass it along to the editrix of the herald. the herald breaks the story.
    11. stroker eventually stops answering calls and notecards for support. corsi and briggi script a little fairie which fixes any borked bed near it, fulfilling their pledge of life long support on beds they no longer are responsible for because they DID create sex gen bases and had the know how.
    12. stroker goes bankrupt trying to sue Linden lab (YAY PHIL WE LUV U DUDE!) crypticlly threatens suicide on twitter and releases OTHER PEOLPE’S WORK FULL PERMISSON IN SECOND LIFE AND QUITS.
Stroker Serpentine never had the technical know how to create or even provide support for sex gen bases. Stroker never received a liscence to the work of Corsi Mousehold or Briggi Bard. He had no right to release their work full permission in Second Life period.”-Jumpman Lane, Second Life Criminal Rating: King of Second Life

In leaving Second Life in the shabby way that he did, hopefully over time people will come to learn the true nature of the character of Mr. Serpentine; and , he will be remembered for the side show barking carnival huckster that he was. Till then delight in watching the sap dance in his pervy Taboo appearance with his motion capture suit on lol! Only use he got out of it apparently! Lol!

and I’ll come back to your earlier comments from today later tomorrow after I’ve had some sleep.
