Next CAAN action – 25th January 2 – 5pm London
On Monday 26 January 2009 the new CJIA 2008 (extreme pornography) law comes into effect.
This criminalises people who own pictures that contain the following (ignore the last two, they don’t apply to us):
(7) An image falls within this subsection if it portrays, in an explicit and realistic way, any of the following—
(a) an act which threatens a person’s life,
(b) an act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person’s anus, breasts or genitals,
(c) an act which involves sexual interference with a human corpse, or
(d) a person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal (whether dead or alive),
and it doesn’t matter where you got them from, even if they’re pictures of you they still fall under this law. The concept of consent to an activity is completely excluded from this law.
So if you like to give or receive a beating or a cropping, don’t take photos! You’ll be breaking yet another law, but this time the police will have evidence.
CAAN (the Consenting Adults Action Network) are organising a demonstration outside the Houses of Parliament on the day before this comes into effect.
Everyone is free to join us in protesting the introduction of this law and we’ll probably even slope off for a few well deserved drinks afterwards. So it will be more of a munch demo then just a demo.
From 2-5pm
On Sunday 25th January 2009
Parliament Square Westminster, London.
